LABOUR'S MID-TERM BUDGET

This Report contains a summary and brief analysis of the main proposals announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer  in  his Spring 1999 Budget Statement. As expected, his Statement includes proposals which will have an  impact on both your personal and business finances.

The aim of this Report is to help you identify areas where the Budget proposals may affect you, and to provide you with an opportunity to make plans, with our help to improve your position.

The next stage is for a Finance Bill to be put before Parliament which will then be incorporated into law as a new Finance Act. Thus, the proposals announced in the Budget Statement remain subject to clarification and amendment as they pass through these stages to the Statute Book. However given the Governments majority, major changes would appear to be unlikely.
