BUDGET 21 MARCH 2000
This Report covers the principal business and taxation matters announced in the 2000 Budget, and was written immediately after the Chancellor of the Exchequer delivered his Budget Speech.
Please take care when noting the actual dates of changes. Budget announcements no longer simply cover legislation that is to be implemented at the start of the tax year.
Be aware also, that the Budget is unusually late and comes only 15 days before the start of the new tax year on 6 April. Our 2000/01 Tax Calendar details some of the key dates and deadlines for the forthcoming year.
We have included a number of tax planning tips and pointers throughout this guide, but financial planning should not restricted to the short time before and after the Budget Speech each year. Keep your plans under review, and discuss them with us at regular intervals. We can help you to ensure that your plans not only reflect changes in your business and in your personal life, but also take account of the latest changes in legislation.
