Gary spent 28 years in the Inland Revenue, with 8 years at Enquiry Branch (the predecessor to Special Compliance Office) as an investigator. He then became a District Inspector in charge of 3 London tax districts which included the setting up of a ground-breaking Black Economy Unit. His experience in the Revenue has thus covered all levels of investigations and complex negotiations.

Gary joined a national accountancy firm, as director of their Tax Investigations Group in 1988. Throughout his 8 years there, he combined a hands-on role in serious cases with the setting of strategy and negotiation parameters for all cases handled by the group. He is now the moving force behind Spencer Fellows Associates and is thriving in the freedom given by his new environment.

Gary's personal philosophy is that you must always play to win. His knowledge of the Revenue psyche, his lateral thinking and his energy commitment and perseverance make him a formidable defender of client interests. He will make himself available to you at all times and will be involved in all important negotiations with the Revenue. He will often resolve intractable disputes in innovative and cost effective ways
