Practice Setup, History and Overview

The operations of Spencer Fellows fall into two distinct categories.

Spencer Fellows & Co. is a long established firm of chartered accountants, providing accountancy, audit and tax services. The principals of the firm trained with larger firms and bring that experience to bear on all aspects of the firm's services.

It is testament to the quality of service offered that we continue to act for many clients who were part of the original client base taken on when the firm was formed over 60 years ago.

We have access to and regularly exchange views with a wide network of professional colleagues in specialist firms to bring their knowledge to bear upon complex matters in addition to our own expertise.

The tax investigation department was set up in 1996 to provide specialist tax consultancy and investigation services to both individual clients and other firms of professional advisers. The principals of this aspect of the practice were both senior Inspectors of Taxes with many years experience at the Inland Revenue, both at district level and at Special Compliance Office

As a firm, the two sides of the practice mesh perfectly, with the Chartered practice providing accountancy and commercial support to the dedicated tax consultants which is reciprocated by having high-level technical tax support available to our traditional accountancy clients.

In all, the practice offers a high level of technical ability and capability usually associated with larger firms.
